Washington Post Word Fest

How can people be this clever?????

Clever Made-Up Words: Results of a Washington Post contest from a few years ago that asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Thanks to Miralee for the link. The winners:
1. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.
2. Ignoranus: A person who’s both stupid and an asshole.
3. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
4. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
5. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
6. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation a bout yourself for the purpose of getting lucky
7. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
8. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn’t get it.
9. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
10. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
11. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease.
12. Karmageddon: It’s when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, and then the Earth explodes, and it’s a serious bummer.
13. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
14. Glibido: All talk and no action.
15. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

Good News! 3 baby steps forward for animals!

Activate for Animals, Online -- AAVS
Dog Labs Ended at MSU Vet School Starting in fall 2010, The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Michigan State University (MSU) will no longer require terminal surgery labs to teach veterinary students. Terminal surgery labs use healthy animals, particularly dogs, to practice surgical skills, after which the animals are killed.

Ending terminal surgery labs and replacing them with more humane teaching methods allows MSU to join the majority of the 28 other veterinary medical schools in the U.S. that no longer include terminal surgeries in their required curriculum. Instead of the controversial labs, MSU’s CVM will use sophisticated models, animal cadavers, and an increased number of spay and neuter operations which benefit animals at shelters.

Victory! Canadian School Board Approves Student Choice Policy
frog Animalearn thanks its Canadian supporters who recently contacted the Burnaby, British Columbia school board. In a 3-2 vote on February 23, 2010, the board agreed to create a formal policy giving students the right to say "no" to dissection. Congratulations to Vancouver, B.C. resident and humane education advocate Lesley Fox, for all her hard work to help students and animals.

Russian University Ends Animal Labs
mouse This month, Perm State Pharmaceutical Academy in Russia declared an end to all animal laboratories at the school. The institution signed a formal agreement with the International Network for Humane Education (InterNICHE) to implement alternatives to animal labs. InterNICHE will be providing the school with humane alternatives. It is the tenth such contract the group has made with an institute of higher education in Russia.

Boy toy seeks hot mama!!

Hello Los Angeles!!!!  An important message from ME, McPlush,  all 3 lbs of me!!!!  It is March 1,'10.   Good news and bad news.  First of all, the mom assembled a team of veterinarians to evaluate surgery on my badly scarred ear.   Board certified, top anesthesiologist, the best....... I felt like a head of state!!!!!  Anyway, after  an exhausting examination, my team concluded that having my ear surgically corrected would be  fraught with dangers.  First of all, I would need extensive CAT scans, ultrasound and other tests$$$$.  Then,  during this kind of surgery there is the threat of extensive bleeding.   Sometimes there is permanent damage to the facial nerve (VII).  I think I'd rather have a bum ear than have one side of my face droop.  Don't you  agree????

So right now I'm on a long course of Baytril as a preventive measure.  Sure feels good to be itch free.   My ear canal isn't shedding much debris either!!!!!

So I continue to be the cutest, friendliest, most cuddly and kissy bunnyboy in Los Angeles. Mom says I'm still available  for adoption but YOU have to be medically sophisticated and willing to pay close and ongoing attention to my health.  Right now I do wish the mom had lots more time to spend with me.  I'm having fun though.  I get to do play dates with  the ravishing  Rhonda Rabbit but she weighs 8 lbs and swears she'll never fall in love with a shorter dude.   I keep on trying  when she is in my room.  In her room it is iffy.......and I'm afraid I might get squashed!!!!!!!      Anyway, I'm available for bonding.  Right now I'm really tired and ready for my nappiezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz(snort)zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............
